Hygiene Awareness

Sahara Economic Development Organization (SEDO) Iraq Kirkuk (Center) & Salah Al-Deen (Samarra district)   SEDO recruited hygiene promoters (4 in Kirkuk and 2 in Samarra), taking into consideration the gender balance, half of them were males and half of them were females (3 males and 3 females). According to the proposal, SEDO is responsible to target 200 beneficiaries with 2 hygiene kit (HK) including awareness, for that, SEDO made a plan to conduct two rounds of awareness, before distributing the first round of HK, the beneficiaries got awareness on three topics (Personal hygiene, COVID-19 and MHM), and the second round of awareness was done before delivered the second round of HK covered the following topics (SWM and Hazard mitigation). Hygiene promoters were equipped with IEC-designed licke posters, banners and brochures for each topic, the banners were used to explain the sessions, and two brochures from each topic were delivered to each family. The awareness model was door-to-door awareness-raising sessions. COVID-19 preventive measures are ensured by avoiding massive gatherings and keeping social distance during hygiene promotion campaigns. In each round, the awareness-raising took five working days in Kirkuk and three working days in Samarra. Four sub-districts were targeted within Kirkuk center (Hay Al Jamia – Mahalla 622, Hay Al Naser, Hay Al Orobah and Hay Wahid Huzairan “Althanyah”). For Samarra, three sub-districts were targeted they were (Al Jubairiyah Al Thalitha, Hay Al Dhubbat – Mahalla 334 and Hay Al Zuhoor (Al qala 4) Mahala 202). Returnees, IDPs and Host Communities were targeted in the mentioned areas. In total, 200 families or 1,167 individuals were reached by SEDO.

Provision of Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Support to Out of Camp Affected Populations

Sahara Economic Development Organization (SEDO) Iraq – Salahaldin – Tuz Khurmatu Previous Next SEDO has communicated and coordinated with the Department of Education DoE to nominate schools/kindergartens that need to water coolers. DoE nominated six kindergartens for providing one water cooler for each kindergarten. The target kindergartens were (Kindergarten of Al Areej, Kindergarten of Al-Zuhor, Kindergarten of Al-Shamail, Kindergarten of Al-Tuz Al-Rasmia, Kindergarten of Bahar, and Kindergarten of Delshad). SEDO completed supplied and installed six water coolers and also install a water filter of three steps before each water cooler in the target kindergartens. The total beneficiaries from the water coolers inside those kindergartens were (1,494) SEDO did water tests before and after filter to check the efficiency for each filter. Sahara Economic Development Organization (SEDO) Iraq – Salahaldin – Tuz Khurmatu As planned, SEDO has contacted and coordinated with the Department of Health DoH to nominate health centers that need rehabilitation, and indeed the Department of Health has provided Seedo with four health centers, when SEDO requested the receipt of work sites for started the rehabilitation process in the targeted health centers. SEDO started implementation of the rehabilitation process in February and the process completed in mid of March then SEDO Handover the site works to DoH. The target health centers were “Health center Jamhoria, Health center KaraNaz, Health center Nogul and Health center Yenkija”. The total beneficiaries for the four health center were (10,247)

Sealing of Kits (SOK) Distribution

Sahara Economic Development Organization (SEDO) Iraq – Kirkuk Previous Next IDPs sites were identified by DTM, the Displacement Tracking Matrix (DTM) is IOM’s information management system to track and monitor population displacement and mobility during crises. SEDO conducted an assessment form for IDPs, and collect around 509 forms, and then according to the scoring system, SEDO selected 270 families that their most need is a SOK and got the highest scoring under this activity and got 1 SOK.
