Hygiene Awareness

SEDO recruited hygiene promoters (4 in Kirkuk and 2 in Samarra), taking into

consideration the gender balance, half of them were males and half of them were females (3 males and 3 females).

According to the proposal, SEDO is responsible to target 200 beneficiaries with 2 hygiene kit (HK) including awareness, for that, SEDO made a plan to conduct two rounds of awareness, before distributing the first round of HK, the beneficiaries got awareness on three topics (Personal hygiene, COVID-19 and MHM), and the second round of awareness was done before delivered the second round of HK covered the following topics (SWM and Hazard mitigation).

Hygiene promoters were equipped with IEC-designed licke posters, banners and brochures for each topic, the banners were used to explain the sessions, and two brochures from each topic were delivered to each family.

The awareness model was door-to-door awareness-raising sessions. COVID-19 preventive measures are ensured by avoiding massive gatherings and keeping social distance during hygiene promotion campaigns.

In each round, the awareness-raising took five working days in Kirkuk and three working days in Samarra.

Four sub-districts were targeted within Kirkuk center (Hay Al Jamia – Mahalla 622, Hay Al Naser, Hay Al Orobah and Hay Wahid Huzairan “Althanyah”). For Samarra, three sub-districts were targeted they were (Al Jubairiyah Al Thalitha, Hay Al Dhubbat – Mahalla 334 and Hay Al Zuhoor (Al qala 4) Mahala 202).

Returnees, IDPs and Host Communities were targeted in the mentioned areas. In total, 200 families or 1,167 individuals were reached by SEDO.
